In 1887, the brutally murdered body of an unidentified young woman was discovered just down the road. Her injuries were so horrific that the crime drew comparisons to the murders of Jack the Ripper. Despite nationwide attention, her identity was never discovered, and her killer was never brought to justice.
Known only as the “Unknown Woman,” she was laid to rest in the cemetery directly behind the museum—her name, her story, and the truth about her final moments buried with her.
But did her spirit ever truly find peace?
Visitors have reported unexplained activity within the Merchants and Drovers Tavern Museum. Could the restless spirit of the Unknown Woman still wander between the cemetery and the historic building, searching for recognition—or justice?
Join us on October 9 as we enter the darkness and attempt to uncover the truth.
The Merchants & Drovers Tavern Museum is located at 1632 St. Georges Avenue, Rahway, NJ 07065.
The murder remains unsolved.
Her identity remains unknown.
