"Carriages and Patriotism: Rahway During the Civil War”.

David Walker, who recently authored a book about Rahway’s participation in the Civil War, will be giving the lecture at 2 p.m. at the historic 210 year old tavern building located in Rahway on the corner of St. Georges and Westfield Avenues.

David, the museum’s Manager of Operations and contributing historian, will focus his talk on demonstrating how the Civil War was arguably one of the most defining events in the city’s history.  Drawing on letters and diaries of soldiers and residents, the lecture hopes to provide the public with a greater understanding and appreciation of the sacrifices made by the men and women of the city.

The cost is $8 for the general public and $6 for MDTMA members, and all proceeds will be used for the continued restoration of the building.  Reservations are required, therefore please call the museum at:

732-381-0441.
